I have never been disciplined in my entire life. I sleep when I want to. I wake up when I want to. I just don’t follow a routine and never bothered to do what I have planned to do. My schedule is there. But I just never follow anything.
In another 7 days, I will have to be working with an intern. This means I will have to show up at the office from Mondays to Saturdays at 8 AM — 9 AM in the morning.
Working with an intern means I will have to practice self-discipline and I cannot run away from this. I only have to do what I am meant to do. Be a good example to my intern. I am freaking out. I cannot do this. I cannot do this if I am my old self. Therefore, it is time to level up. Be a man. Show what I am made of.
I’ve searched the Internet and found ways and means to become self-disciplined in a week. Here are the steps.
- Set clear goals: Define what you want to achieve and break it down into smaller, achievable tasks. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, and time-bound. I know that I have many projects that I need to break down into smaller chunks of time to carry things out. I’ve never done anything I’ve planned. There is just no way that I am going to follow this plan if I DON’T FOLLOW it. Therefore, from today I am going to follow my schedule and my time blocks. Schedule things and stick to it! Period!
- Create a routine: Establish a daily routine that includes time for work, exercise, relaxation, and sleep. Stick to this routine as closely as possible, even on weekends. Yes! It says even on weekends. I have everything on the list that has been listed down for my daily routine. There’s only 3 things that are missing from the above list. Morning routine, evening routine and commuting.
- Eliminate distractions: Identify and eliminate sources of distraction, such as social media, television, or other activities that keep you from focusing on your goals. These are definitely not the problems that I am facing at the moment. I just…
